31derful Days of thanksgiving Day #9 and #10

It's been a long day's night.  Before I wrote Day number 9 it has turned into Day number 10 at 3am!

Today we laid Gene's ashes in the ground and planted a tree over top.  It was a VERY satisfying IDEA to plan for and work toward but it ripped raw the wound of losing him once again...STOP.  HE is not lost though I feel lost and our children are adrift.  STOP...We still here remaining have an anchor.  Gene discovered that anchor in Alaska, I discovered that anchor in Lewes, Delaware. Our children discovered and embraced that very same anchor each individually in the living room, at a campfire and in the kitchen!  The anchor is Jesus.

I was reflecting a few [was it days or weeks] ago that so many many core values of scripture we taught our children through singing the Word of God!  Great music led to the memorization of scripture.  This led to discussions and revelations of truth.  We can still easily lean toward each other in any dimension of life and give just a note or two to remember one of our favorites that reflects those truths.  Add in great radio broadcasts or stories and fun and God captured our children's hearts!  They were ages 3, 1.5 and 4 as they each embraced salvation.  I am not kidding about the 1.5 years of age.  Kate came to me and with such a limited vocabulary told me Jess-us in ma hart!!!!  She reaffirmed her salvation experience at a bonfire at the age of 3 but she truly did embrace it at such a tender age.  Could they really understand at so young a time in their lives?  Well, they behaved and spoke and prayed as though they did and now at all grown up they behave and speak and pray with conviction and make choices everyday to represent Christ to all they encounter.  I think they understood.

Here is a list of many of our favorites.  Listen with your children, listen by yourself, allow them full access to listen on their own.  Listen in the car, in bed at night, in the kitchen while you make pancakes.  [sort of......  noooo ........really like Deuteronomy 6:4-9]

4 “Listen, O Israel! The Lord is our God, the Lord alone.[a] 5 And you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your strength. 6 And you must commit yourselves wholeheartedly to these commands that I am giving you today. 7 Repeat them again and again to your children. Talk about them when you are at home and when you are on the road, when you are going to bed and when you are getting up. 8 Tie them to your hands and wear them on your forehead as reminders. 9 Write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.
